Getting to Aalborg

By Air – Aalborg has a domestic airport with frequent flights to Copenhagen airport, a major international hub, throughout the day, and with connections to Billund airport, a smaller near-by international airport. In addition, Aalborg has a few international connections. For plane schedules and reservations, see Aalborg Lufthavn.

After each air arrival, an airport bus departs for the city center and the train station. The transportation time is ca. 20 minutes, and the price is DKK 25.

In addition, taxis depart from right outside the airport building. If you need to get to us, a taxi is probably the best choice (see below).

By Rail – For train schedules and reservations, see DSB's homepage.

By Car – We are best reached by highway E45. To get to us when approaching from the south, take exit 26, Egensevej. At the exit ramp, turn right, in the direction of Egense. You are now on Egensevej, a two-lane road. Go through one set of lights and then turn right at the roundabout, which comes up after ca. 1 km after the highway exit (cf. the map below). Immediately after the roundabout, turn left. After ca. 250 m, turn right onto Fredrik Bajers Vej. After another 250 m, turn left and park in one of the lots on your right or left. You are now at Fredrik Bajers Vej 7 Look for signs that direct you to Building E.

Getting Around in Aalborg

Public Transportation – Aalborg has a very nicely developed bus network. To reach us, you may take the yellow busses with the numbers 1, 2, 4, and 9, in the direction of Universitetet. Bus numbers 1, 4, and 9 stop right outside our building. Bus number 2 stops a 100 meters from the university. The busses stop frequently throughout town, but busses are easiest to catch at the train station (numbers 2 and 4), and from downtown (around Nytorv; numbers 1, 2, and 4).

The price of a ticket from downtown to our location costs DKK 12, and the ride takes perhaps 20 minutes.

Taxi – Taxis are rather expensive in Denmark, but will get you anywhere fast. The drivers speak at least some English and have a very good knowledge of the area.
A trip...
from the airport to the center of Aalborg is ca. DKK 80 and takes ca. 10 minutes,
from the airport to our department is ca. DKK 160 and takes ca. 20-25 minutes, and
from the center of Aalborg to our department is ca. DKK 120 and takes ca. 15 minutes.

Information About Aalborg

Hotels – The Aalborg Tourist Board and Convention Bureau's homepage offers information on hotels in Aalborg. The hotels are generally very nice. Scandic Hotel is within walking distance of us. We often use Park Hotel: it is a nice hotel that is conveniently located across from the train station close to downtown, and it perhaps offers the best value.
